America 250 in the Planetarium
Planetarium show about the Voyager starships at Bowling Green State University.
Join a fascinating talk about humanity's most distant explorers: NASA's twin Voyager spacecraft. Presented by a physics professor from Bowling Green State University, this program explores the incredible journey of Voyager 1 and 2, which launched in 1977 and traveled throughout our solar system capturing stunning images of the gas giants. Now more than 13 billion miles away, these spacecraft made history by entering interstellar space—Voyager 1 in 2012 and Voyager 2 in 2018. Despite being in space for nearly 49 years with most systems shut down, they continue sending valuable data back to Earth about the environment beyond our solar system.
This event is part of a larger America 250 series celebrating American innovation and discovery through astronomy, history, art, and music. Best for curious kids and teens interested in space exploration, the presentation runs one hour and is completely free. A planetarium show called The Wright Way to Fly follows at 8:45 p.m., giving families a full evening of space-themed programming. No registration is required—just drop in and enjoy.
